My Blog posts

I finally had a chance to watch the movie Goat. I'd seen the trailer ages back, but being a kids movie, my small local cinema doesn't put on any evening showings, so I had to make an effort to drag myself out early on the weekend. And it was indeed GOAT. It's about a goat who dreams of playing in the major league of a violent basketball-like sport. And covers all manner of themes such as dreaming big (the star players are all large animals) and working as a team etc... Visually it was amazing, but you'd expect that from the studio that brought us things like Spiderverse. I definitely enjoyed it and was glad I made the effort to get up early on a Saturday to catch a showing, especially as I had the whole screen to myself. #moviereview

So last year I read "You and Me On Vacation" (which is the name they published "People We Meet On Vacation" under in more civilised countries) and I loved it. A quirky romanace novel that unlike the ones I usually read, was solely populated by normal mundane humans. Anyway, today the movie adaptation dropped on Netflix and it is just as enjoyable. It isn't exactly the same as the book (besides the title), but when are film adapations ever? They've smooshed some bits together and tweaked a few bits. But overall the plot is essentially the same. And in some ways I think the changes file off any remaining suggestion that it's an Enemies to Lovers story, like the book blurb suggests, cos it really isn't. They're just 2 vastly different sorts of people with seeming very little in common until they end up trapped in a car on a roadtrip and discover they can be really good friends. I also think they've nailed the casting of Poppy and Alex perfectly.
