I'm not sure entirely what this part of the site is going to be about, or rather I know what it's going to be about, but I'm not sure where to begin. I'm not 100% sure I should be writing this, but a friend suggested it might be a good idea. Basically, I'm going to spew out my own personal beliefs about spirtuality and stuff like that and in the process hopefully learn more about them.
First off, I'm am most definitely not a Christian. I don't have a problem with other people following that path, but I don't believe in any of it. To me it's too much based on 2000 years of politcal hype and spin used to control simple minded folk. And is definitely the case for most other religions too.
I do believe in the existance of gods and other spiritual entities. Which is one reason why Christianity isn't for me, as the whole "There is only one god" contradicts that idea. To date, I've yet to find any religion (dead or not) that shares any similiarity between their pantheon and mine. The best I've managed is a fictional book (actually a trilogy of books) whose name escape me at the moment.
Basically I believe the Universe is in perfect balance and this belief extends to everything including the gods. The way the book described this was by taking a 20 sided dice (can't remember the maths for it) and assigning each edge a different aspect (love, hate, money etc) and placing them such that opposites lie diametrically opposite on the dice. Each god is represented by a face and takes on the 3 aspects that form that face. This results in opposing gods balancing each other out.
From my point of view, I don't imagine it being so formulated, but as a way of explaining the rough idea it works quite well. (to be continued)
Recently I've been thinking of other random, vaguely related stuff, like my Vorlon theory.
On some what related note, my religious interests have also led me to explore other aspects of spirituality and the like, such as Tarot and astrology.
